Pinterest: 57% of Users are From Outside America

Pinterest is the 3rd most popular social network in America. But according to current data from Alexa, 57% of its visitors are from other countries.

Alexa’s data currently show 42.7% of visitors coming from the United States. Whilst a minority, these US visitors are still by far the largest per-country group. The next top countries by number of visitors to Pinterest are India (6.7%) and the UK (4.4%).

This is a substantial shift from November of last year when 77% of the site’s visits were from the US. Previously, Canada was in second place.

Also worth noting is that Pinterest usage in Japan seems to be surging. Right now, Japan contributes 2.7% of visits, up from just 0.7% in March. Rakuten’s recent investment in the social pinning service may have something to do with it.
